Czech Republic adopts new DP law to follow GDPR

01/04/2019

The Czech Republic adopted, on 12 March 2019, legislation that brings the GDPR’s provisions into national law.

The Data Processing Act, which repeals the previous Act on Personal Data Protection, will not apply administrative fines to the public sector. The age for children to give consent for the use of online services is set at 15, law firm Wolf Theiss reports.

The new Act now needs to be signed by the President. After that, it will enter into force on the day of its publication in the Legal Gazette.
